![]() ![]() So, at least you get truck rolls that aren't near that price. Go outside of Spectrum, for any appliance, electronics, or PC person, to just come out to look at anything once those all too fast warranties expire is going to be at least $100. And some even charge to look at something. They have to do this to get people to not call to report every little thing. ![]() That could be coded by the CSR as an "Upgrade." and for that, they could charge you for a truck roll. But let's say you want a new modem from them for faster speed or some functionality is not working, but you still have service. If you contact Spectrum, and your services are OK and not disconnecting. But it has to be a problem with THEIR equipment, or lines, or signals. ("My modem is always disconnecting, or I am out of service.) That's a "Troubleshoot" and there would be no charge for an equipment replacement or upgrade for a troubleshoot. When you call Spectrum, or do any social media chat, and it's something like a service problem. Mailed replacement modem supposedly on why to me.If you insist they come out on an issue they admit they have no solution why would you not expect a charge?Ī mail replacement seems like a reasonable alternative if the only answer right now is to throw parts at it.Generally, Again I said unacceptable so they offered to exchange at their store 10 miles from me or mail one to me. Answer-because some day they will resolve the issue. I said why are you charging me for replacement of your defective modem. Not happy with answer did THREE chats to finally have Spectrum admit unknown resolution so I said have tech come out and replace modem. Called supervisor who said yes problem working on fix. And, unfortunately, you don't have access to that info (for example, while not a Charter branded modem, the customer owned SB8200 is now up to (at least) 7 different hardware revisions (not all were released to the public) with subtle differences in each, although recent firmware(s) support both the old and the new, so you mostly can't tell mostly). Even when they use the same exact external model number there can be differences in the hardware revision that can matter. Thanks.Ever since Charter started offering their own modems they no longer make available some of the internal details of the devices. Any suggestions for an alternative modem with internet and phone(wifi router not wanted). My next step is to identify an alternative modem and go to the store and exchange. I posted here and so far it appears at least one user 30 miles from me doesn't have the same problem with the same modem model. You might have an issue in your own node. ![]() You don't want to have to go through going to a Spectrum Store, come home with a different modem, and have the same issue.ģ0 miles away becomes a moot point. Through this method, a ticket will be opened. If you rent your modem from Spectrum, I would call to get a tech out to replace check your line and have him replace the modem if needed. Any suggestions for an alternative modem with internet and phone(wifi router not wanted)? I had a call with Spectrum and they told me Spectrum had a known problem with my router model number which caused the caller id phone number to be blank when sent to the connected phone even though the TV caller id showed oth a caller name and phone number. ![]()
